Etchings~The Harbin Series – Mark Graver

Mark Graver’s latest show at Village Arts, Kohukohu which opened on the 21st August featured works from his ‘Harbin’ series inspired by a recent trip to China. Three prints from this series won first prize at the recent Lessedra World Print Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Also featured were prints from the Nympheas series, one of which has just been acquired by the National Museum of Fine Art, Taiwan.

30 Ukulele | 30 Artists

30 Ukulele 30 Artists was a highly appraised exhibition curated by Marg Morrow in March and early April 2010.

The exhibition featured well-known artists including Gretchen Albrecht, Judy Darragh, Toa Fraser, and L. Budd exhibited alongside local artists – each produced individual works of art using the ukulele as their focus.

The work that was not sold at the exhibition was offered for auction in late September 2010 at Webb’s Auction House.

Hotere Country

Hotere Country

Hotere Country was a major exhibition at Village Arts held in October 2009. It featured Ralph Hotere’s important work ‘Song of Solomon’, a compelling commentary on the 1991 Gulf War.
The aim of the exhibition was to honour, acknowledge and pay tribute to Ralph Hotere who was born in Mitimiti, on Hokianga’s west coast, 30 km from Kohukohu.

The exhibition also featured works from five artists with strong connections to Hotere country; Maureen Lander, Lindsay Antrobus Evans, Claire Deighton, Ross T Smith and Heiwari Johnson.
